Friday mornings on my way to work, the local radio station here on Oahu literally plays a song called “Aloha Friday.” Every Friday. And honestly, there’s no better pick-me-up. “It’s aloha Friday, no work ’til Monday…” Except in this case, I hope you have Monday off for Labor Day like I do. Three day weekends are extra special, albeit usually extra packed, but I’m planning on spending a lazy three days with Sam. Because, in case you missed my ecstatic Facebook post, he decided to surprise me in Hawaii for my birthday last week. We’re going to be busy with beach time, a little stroll around town, plate lunch and shave ice breaks… you know, island life-stuff.
How about you? How are you spending the holiday weekend? Here are a few things from around the web you should check out before signing off for three days:
I have a car dance. I usually start doing it subconsciously, but Sam always points it out. He calls it my “sorority girl dance move.” And this baby just nailed it.
This time last year I was actually in NYC on a work trip. And I’m secretly a little upset, because I think I rode the wrong subway train. Which line carries these guys?
My kind of paddleboarding. That is all.
For all you ladies and gentlemen who drool over the Anthropologie catalog like I do… this one’s for you!
Four years ago at this time I published a review of Seres Restaurant in Portland’s Pearl District. Still the best Chinese food in the area.
Two years ago this week I shared a recipe for our wedding cake – Toasted Coconut Cupcakes!!! – as well as highlights of our fabulous European honeymoon.
Last year I shared a pretty killer appetizer recipe for Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalapenos with Cream Cheese and Pineapple. And yes, they are just as good as they sound.
It’s hard to believe it, but I’m on year 4 of Margaritas In The Rain. There are so many yummy recipes in the bank – and so many still to conquer! Thanks for hanging along for the ride. Happy weekend, friends. xo
